Welcome aboard the Harbour.Space journey! Here, we take a glimpse into the lives of some incredible alumni who have not only thrived in their chosen fields but also used their education to shape the world around them.
Meet Jules: The Creative Powerhouse
First up is Juliah S. Champion, or Jules for short, a designer with a passion for both space exploration and artistic expression. Hailing from Thailand, Jules graduated with a Master’s in Interaction Design from our Bangkok campus. Before joining Harbour.Space, she honed her skills in the space industry, helping startups elevate communication within the field. This unique experience, coupled with her background in fashion design, made Jules a truly versatile creative.
Harbour.Space became the missing piece, allowing her to seamlessly combine her love for design and entrepreneurship. What Jules truly cherished about the program was the opportunity to learn from renowned designers and industry professionals. Witnessing their passion, dedication, and the way they nurtured their students fueled Jules’ inspiration and love for the subject.
One standout module for Jules was “Becoming a Leader” with Aline Badr, PCC CPCC. This course helped Jules rediscover the importance of a strong mindset for true creativity to flourish. The leadership skills she learned have become invaluable tools in both her design work and personal life.
Memorable moments? Jules describes her experience as “an adventure filled with creative plot twists for character-building, and the occasional coffee run to Pony’s – definitely the best and most memorable!”
Meet Adaku: The Design Advocate
Next, we have Adaku Nwakanma, a master’s degree student in Interaction Design at our Bangkok campus. Originally from Nigeria, Adaku’s journey began with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. Combining this strong technical foundation with Harbour.Space’s unique approach to learning and collaboration with industry experts, Adaku has flourished.
She highlights the diversity and depth of the Interaction Design program, particularly the collaborative projects with talented peers and the hands-on experience. This combination has significantly enhanced her design skills and broadened her perspective on tackling real-world problems.
Currently enrolled in Irene Pereyra’s “Design Portfolio” module, Adaku is learning the art of effective presentation, specifically the power of storytelling. This skill allows her to articulate the process behind each project, showcasing her design thinking, problem-solving skills, and the impact of her solutions. Additionally, the module has equipped her with the ability to curate a portfolio that aligns with her career goals, reflecting her identity, strengths, and areas of expertise.
Adaku’s dedication extends beyond design. She’s passionate about creating empowering and inclusive experiences while advocating for sustainability and interconnectedness. This holistic approach reflects in her design work and her approach to life.
Driven by curiosity and a commitment to equal opportunities, Adaku strives to foster functional societies where everyone can thrive. Recently, she published her first book, “Before You Comb Your Hair,” documenting the cultural impact of the global natural hair movement in Nigeria and its role in helping people reconnect with their unique identities and self-expression.
Adaku isn’t just building her future; she’s shaping a world where inclusivity, sustainability, and self-expression reign supreme.
Meet Dini: The Multi-Skilled Trailblazer
Our final alumna is Christina Loidolt, also known as Dini. Originally from Austria, Dini now thrives in Berlin, Germany. Her career journey began as a Junior Content Manager at Rakuten Europe, and she recently secured a well-deserved promotion to Account Manager within the same company.
Dini graduated in 2021 with a double major in Digital Marketing and Interaction Design, having studied at both our Barcelona and Bangkok campuses. Harbour.Space’s unique approach to education resonated with Dini’s desire to avoid a pre-defined path. She sought an environment that nurtured her strengths and provided an international study experience. Harbour.Space delivered exactly that. Dini graduated equipped with a diverse skill set encompassing marketing, sales, presentation, startup dynamics, project management, coding, analytics, negotiation, branding, design, UX, ideation, prototyping, networking, teamwork, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Dini’s Harbour.Space education plays a critical role in her career as a Content and Account Manager at Rakuten Europe. Her proficiency in content, marketing, and sales empowers her to create compelling presentations, develop effective marketing plans, and negotiate deals with clients. Dini’s understanding of various disciplines allows her to collaborate seamlessly across the organization, providing valuable insights into design, product development, and marketing strategy alignment.
As Dini transitions to a Sales Account Manager role, she credits specific Harbour.Space classes for providing her with the necessary skills to excel in this new chapter.
